Dhilmar struck a deal to buy Anglo American’s Australian steelmaking coal mines for up to about $3.9 billion in cash, set to close by early 2027, pending regulatory clearances and conditions. This sale accompanies Anglo American’s retreat from steelmaking coal, in a portfolio simplification ahead of a merger, plus a group of Queensland mines along with Middlemount town transfer. Dhilmar is also reported to buy Newmont's Éléonore mine in Canada for $795 million, set for completion in early 2025, marking Dhilmar's involvement in strategic asset reshuffles in both regions.
