Volkswagen says it may cut as many as 100,000 jobs. It could also shut four factories in Germany. That would be that biggest reshuffle the group has ever done. The company gave the news on 27 June 2026, after reports from Reuters, the Financial Times and the London Daily News.
The cuts are a response to Chinese electric‑vehicle makers gaining ground in Europe. Analysts say the moves could affect about half of the 200,000 staff at the sites. If the plan goes ahead, VW is set to see a major change to its workforce and where it builds cars.
