Tasmanian authorities have warned that crowds are "loving Neil to death" and might lead to the euthanasia of the 1,000kg seal if people keep crowding the animal on the coast.
Local reports say Neil's rising popularity brings harmful behaviour, including knocking over kayaks and biting jet skis, after coming ashore and attracting hundreds of onlookers. Officials have pleaded with the public to give him space.
