Over half of members in the Australian Education Union’s Victoria branch voted against the state’s recent wage proposal, prompting state school teachers to walk out.

The AEU announced the withdrawal of labor after results showed 51 percent voted against the new plan.

A strike is now confirmed and scheduled to move forward with no new negotiations scheduled at this stage.

Public school students will face disruptions as staff abandon their duties.
