Chelsea Football Club have settled on a club-record £117 million deal for Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers. Middlesbrough will retain 20% of any future profit from the sale.
The transfer has fuelled doubts over its impact on playing time for Enzo Fernández. Rogers’ move comes after Chelsea’s summer spending push under new ownership. The club is also keeping tabs on Maxence Lacroix, Jonathan Rowe, Nicolas Jackson and Alejandro Garnacho.
Other clubs chasing reinforcements include Arsenal, which is mulling free-agent John Stones after William Saliba’s World Cup injury triggered a reshuffle in the defence staff.
