The ICC has fined Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sri Lanka player Asitha Fernando 25 per cent of their match fees after a confrontational dispute on the field. The incident occurred on 24 August 2026 during the Test match in Colombo. During the fixture, Jaiswal made physical contact with Fernando with his head while on the square, prompting disciplinary review from match officials. Both Cricinfo and the ICC confirmed the sanction issued to the players for bad behaviour.
Following the ruling, Jaiswal accepted the sanction but maintained his position. He stated that he did the right thing during the heated moment. Speaking to Indulge Express, he stressed that India would continue to battle on in their next matches despite the recent confrontation.
