On July 6, Canada’s federal public servants began working in government buildings five days per week. The rule began without a well‑defined plan for how to make it happen. Unions said offices lack adequate space and tools for everyone to return. They also said the administration gave no proof that working in offices additional days makes things improved for the public.
The federal government argued the changes will help small businesses get additional government contracts. Federal employees and press reporters still ask if offices are ready for so many people.
