The crew of The Rookie has apologised for the abrupt cliffhanger ending to Season 8. The audience had been left waiting after the final scene dropped out. Creator Alexi Hawley revealed at the convention that Season 9's opening will be expanded past the standard run. Nathan Fillion revealed that filming for Season Nine kicks off on a date in early August. At the same time, a sneak peek of a fresh scene shot in Chenford was shared online ahead of the new season.
