Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has pulled a death warrant for William Lee Thompson, 74, who was found guilty of murder in Miami-Dade County. It is the first time DeSantis has cancelled an execution. A second execution was still set to go ahead Tuesday.
The move came days after a botched lethal injection involving Christa Pike brought new questions over Florida's lethal injection process. The governor gave no immediate public explanation for pulling the warrant for Thompson specifically.
